Frequently Asked Questions
To help you better understand how Tandem Communities works and assist in determining if it’s the right solution for you, we’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions.
Age is an accomplishment, not an enrollment requirement. Our services are tailored to each individual member. We pride ourselves on not segregating people by age; which makes each community diverse, local and full of life.
Your Care Team is in the community Monday-Friday from 8am-8pm. Overnight and weekend care is available in certain communities.
All Wellness Visits, CareVisits™ and housekeeping services take place between the hours of 8am to 8pm, Monday through Friday. You will be given a window of time that your visits will take place. Schedules may vary week to week and are dependent on the type of services you choose.
Your Care Team consists of 3-4 caregivers, a housekeeper and a Community Care Supervisor that work together to provide the highest quality of care to each member. You’ll get an alert before each visit to let you know which of your dedicated team is on their way.
When your Care Team is in the Community, they will respond to any alerts of unusual activity or significant changes to routine in real time. We do not, however, provide monitoring 24/7. CareConnect provides insights into health signals and changes to routine and behavior. We use these insights to empower our Care Teams deliver better care. For members looking for 24/7 monitoring or around-the-clock emergency response services, we can refer you to one of our preferred partners.
Your Care Concierge team can help you coordinate a variety of services through our preferred partner network. Whether it be coordinating transportation to an appointment, helping set up a meal delivery plan or arranging laundry services – we’re here to help with any needs that may come up.
Because your caregivers are embedded within your community and CareVisits last only 30-40 minutes, we do not offer transportation as an included service. Our Care Concierge team can help you coordinate any transportation needs through community resources or through our preferred provider.
As we grow our community membership, we intend on developing programs to bring members together in a safe social setting with fun activities and outings. According to many recent studies, social isolation and loneliness in older people pose health risks. We will announce any further developments to our members as soon as possible.
We do not provide medical services, but we work with many partners across the healthcare community who can help provide the right care at the right time. Some of these services include nursing care, physical therapy, speech therapy and more.
Every Tandem caregiver is a registered Home Care Aide (HCA) licensed by the state of California. They must pass a comprehensive background check cleared by the Department of Social Services, the FBI and the Department of Justice. Every caregiver is CPR and First Aid certified and is provided extensive training, with expertise ranging from companion care to specialty care.
If you are interested in joining a Tandem Community, we will schedule a complimentary Care Consultation to discuss your needs and which membership level will fit best. These consultations give you an opportunity to ask questions and find out more about how Tandem Communities can serve you as you age.
